Scott Stapp @ Iron Works, Buffalo, NY January 23, 2016

Scott Stapp 1/23/16

It’s been a few months since a really good rock show has come through Buffalo, NY. This past Tuesday, Scott Stapp (of Creed fame) brought his solo project to the Iron Works. It’s just what the city needed and what Stapp needed too.

Let’s rewind back to 2014. Stapp was on tour in support of his latest solo effort titled “Proof of Life” and he played a show in Niagara Falls, NY. Not only did we sit down and talk with Stapp before the show, he went on to perform one of the best shows I saw for that entire year. A few short months later he was all over TMZ. TMZ and other news outlets were talking about Stapp’s jump off the deep end. It took a while but Stapp, with the support of his family, seems to have gotten his issues under control and is currently back and ready to rock.

His one hour and 20 minute set in Buffalo was proof that he is back. The voice has never left and his appreciation for what he almost lost was shown through heartfelt thanks to the fans throughout his set. This set was focused more heavily on Creed songs than his solo work. I think he’s focused on winning the fans back and showing them that he still has it as a front man.

“Proof of Life” is a great song that means more to Stapp today, I’m sure, than when he wrote it a few years back. He also took time to thank the fans for coming and said “you can be anywhere but you chose to come here tonight. Buffalo, I thank you!”

What is more meaningful to Stapp and his solo band is that the fans were really into the show, and Stapp didn’t want to let them down. He gave another great performance in Western New York and let’s hope there are many more of these shows in years to come!
