Flotsam and Jetsam “Flotsam and Jetsam”

2016 is an historic year for thrashers Flotsam and Jetsam marking both the 35th anniversary of the band and the 30th anniversary of their debut album “Doomsday For the Deceiver.” Yet it is also a new beginning for the band with a brand new self-titled record, the return of bassist Michael Spencer and the addition of guitarist Steve Conley and drummer Jason Bittner.

Flotsam and Jetsam have always been a vastly underrated band in the world of thrash and metal but this new album is about to change all that. Working with producer Chris Collier, frontman Eric AK and guitarist Mike Gilbert have created a new and modern old school thrash record. A few songs like “L.O.T.D.” and “Forbidden Territories” are revamped songs that Spencer wrote in the ’80s adding to that classic feel. Vocally, Eric AK has never sounded better even channeling his inner Bruce Dickinson with the vocal melodies on the Maiden
tribute “Iron Maiden.” Killer riffs from Gilbert and Conley abound on “Seventh Seal” and “Creeper” while Spencer and Bittner drive the relentless pace. After years of changing lineups, Flotsam and Jetsam may have finally hit the jackpot with the band sounding tighter than ever.

This new album may be the start of a fantastic new era for Flotsam and Jetsam.  With an outstanding selection of classic thrash tunes with a fresh, modern twist, the metal world will have no choice but to stand up and take notice.
