Johnny Dee (Doro, Britny Fox and Kick – The INXS Experience) Interview

As a rock and metal fan, I have been attending live shows for well over 30 years since the age of 13.  It would have been even earlier if not for my parents discovering my feeble “mastermind” plan at age 10 to sneak out and take the bus downtown to see Ozzy, but I digress.  After all those years, you think that you have seen it all but last fall I had the chance to see DORO and her band live for the first time.  I wasn’t quite sure what to expect of the show but it blew me away.  Doro Pesch, the Metal Queen ,was phenomenal and her band kicked some serious ass.  What really stood out in my mind from that show was the sheer joy and passion that all of the musicians on stage had for the music and for their fans.  It was a night of rock and roll to remember and at the center of it all was drummer Johnny Dee.

Johnny has been touring the world with Doro for over 23 years and has recently reformed the ’80s metal band Britny Fox bringing fans a chance to delve into the world of hair metal all over again.  When he’s not scrambling to airports in order to perform on two different continents in two different bands on the same day, Johnny somehow finds time to pursue other projects including an exciting new tribute CD that he has in the works.

BackstageAxxess had the chance to chat with Johnny and get caught up on everything that he’s been up to.  Please join us for a conversation with one of the hardest working drummers in music, Johnny Dee.
