Daughtry @ The Rapids Theatre, Niagara Falls, NY 12-2-16

The band Daughtry as they did the last few winters put together a few dates to have some fun doing a few acoustical shows.  This wasn’t a whole band production, it was a very stripped down event and only included Chris Daughtry, Brain Craddock and Elvio Fernandes. The Rapids Theatre was the 3rd last show of the year for them which included playing before Twisted Sister in their last NYC area performance for Rock Carnival on October 1st.

The band was jovial and joked around before and in between songs.  As Daughtry took the stage in his hoodie he told the audience how cold he was as Fernandez and Craddock started playing the first few chords to Foreigners “Cold as Ice.”  Even before the first few notes to “Crawling Back to You” were played, the Falls audience knew they were in for a fun show.

This show was about the audience and getting them involved.  He had them singing parts of songs and encouraged their participation throughout.  He even played short snippets of 80’s classic songs like Motley Crue’s “Home Sweet Home” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.” The band came off very true and authentic even without any crunchy guitars and the hard rocking backing beat of a rhythm section.

It’s been 3 years since the release of new music (Baptism) and the band is currently entrenched in the creative process right now.  It’s nice to see them get out and having fun while playing some of their hits and some covers.
