Kiefer Sutherland @ Bears Den (Inside the Seneca Niagara Casino) Niagara Falls, NY 2-18-17

Since last spring, Kiefer Sutherland has been taking his music to the masses. In August of 2016, he released his first solo effort titled “Down in a Hole” which we reviewed here:  (CD Review).  Sutherland combines American, Country and has a little bit of Outlaw in his music as well.

To get into this specific show review, not much has changed since the last review we did of his last show in the WNY area (Show Review).  The setlist was almost identical and the band remains the same as well.  I can say the lighting was very subtle and he came out wearing a hat, making it very difficult to see him for the first few songs.  His voice fit the songs he was singing and I applaud him for not hiding entirely behind an acoustic guitar all evening. I stated that in the last review and I will state it again here.

Being this show was close to the border (Niagara Falls, NY), you had Canadian representatives in the audience including a few who shouted they were from his hometown of Toronto.

One debate that I will state here and leave it up to the reader to decide;  When an artist screws up a song, should he continue on and get the train back on the track or should he stop and restart it all over from the top?  Sutherland did this with “Not Enough Whiskey.”  It’s honest of him to admit and want to start over but I like the feeling that it’s rock and roll and anything could happen when performed in a live setting. Therefore, I would prefer for the song to keep going.  What do you think?

Not much has changed from the first offering he did in the area back in May of 2016.  I will say that as long as Sutherland is still out touring, he is showing true dedication to the craft and for that alone, I show him my appreciation!
