The Willow Creek Winery presented its first concert of the season featuring blues legend Edgar Winter. You may be saying to yourself, a concert at a winery? With the accommodations they provide, plenty of foods to choose from to the spacious areas for camping, this jewel could be the next best thing in convert venues. The 62- year-old sounded great and was surprisingly energetic. The 1 and a half hour set contained his classics Frankenstein and Free Ride, along with a song from his old band, White Trash, Let Your Love Shine on Me. The band started off with the title track off his latest effort “Rockin’ Rebel” and also played another notable track off the CD called “Power of Positive Drinking.” During “Tobacco Road,” Edgar and his guitarist Doug Rappoport entertained the audience with a vocal and guitar duel with Edgar impressively holding his own throughout the duel. During the monster hit “Frankenstein,” drummer Jason Carpenter provided a fine solo with Edgar trying his hand at the Saxophone, synthesizer, and the drums as well, during the extended version of the song. A nice melody of Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love” accompanied by a kOko Powell bass solo was delivered during the song “Tobacco Road.” There may not have been a lot of songs played throughout the night, but it’s the quality that counts. Winter and his band provided that without question!
