Queensryche @ Molson Concert Series, Lockport, NY 7-31-09

Some overcast and eventual rain didnt damper the crowd spirits who were in attendance for the Queensryche show in Lockport as part of the Molson Canal Concert Series. The band who is on tour in support of American Soldier greeted the crowd with the track Neue Regal off of Rage for Order. During the song Killer former soldier and Geneva, NY native AJ Fratto took the opposite vocal part and sang with enthusiasm and passion that the song was meant to be sung. Before the tune took place, singer and mastermind behind the American soldier project Geoff Tate talked about how this CD came about. He shared with the audience how his dad along with other veterans were spit on and ridiculed from being a part in their respective wars. Geoffs voice throughout the show was magnificent as usual. One of the top vocalists on the planet didnt disappoint yet again. During the song Lay Down, Geoff played the clarinet throughout the tune. His 11 year old daughter Emily sang the little daughters part on the track Home Again. The song was accompanied by pictures on the video screen backdrop of soldiers tearful goodbyes and families being reunited. Geoff also showed his talent by playing the saxophone during The Thin Line. Throughout the show, the band was extremely tight and hopefully the audience took in playing of drummer Scott Rockenfield. He is a truly an amazing talent behind the kit. This is one of the best out there who doesnt get enough recognition for the playing he does. The band is all original minus guitarist Parker Lundgren (who recently married Geoffs step daughter.) The set was cut short due to city ordinance but it didnt detract for one of the most consistent bands out on tour for delivering another gem of a performance!
