Eddie Money graced the stage as the Molson Canadian Summer Concert series continues on in the town of Lockport, NY every Friday night. This show produced the largest number of attendees of the season, aside from possibly Our Lady Peace, as Eddie has a huge following in the Western New York area. Before he took the stage, there was a congregation of people waiting to get a glimpse of Eddie walking from his bus to the stage. Money and his 5-piece band soon appeared and covered all the hits to the delight of the immense crowd. Eddie kicked into Two Tickets to Paradise and made many references throughout the show to the crowd that that he had two tickets in his pocket just for them. He kept making some off the wall comments throughout the show and it seemed his longtime guitarist, Tommy Girvin, was a little peeved by his actions. The band consisted of former Survivor keyboardist Chris Grove, bassist, Lee Beverly, drummer Glenn Symmonds and backup singer Jessica Money (who also took the mic from Eddie for two songs herself). Money did show his tremendous chops on the saxophone on songs like Trinidad, I Wanna Go Back, and Want to be a Rock and Roll Star. He also brought back memories of The Midnight Special, which was one of the best musical variety shows of its time back in the 1970s, before his song Take Me Home Tonight. He also dedicated the song Give Me Some Water to former Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly.
Overall, I was disappointed that Eddie couldnt wait until after the show to get his groove on. Nevertheless, his band showed what true professionals they are and delivered a great performance and carried the night for Eddie.
