Randy Bachman @ Molson Concert Series, Lockport, NY 8-21-09

Former Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive guitarist, Randy Bachman, provided the final performance of the 2009 Molson Canadian Concert Series in Lockport, NY. Randy played all of the hits from the aforementioned bands and incorporated some solo stuff as well. Randy sounded great and was very interactive with the crowd, sharing stories on how songs came about including the Guess Who classic Let it Ride. The tune was written after a trip to Winnipeg back in the early days and recounts an experience where the bands tour bus was boxed in between 4 semi trucks and when Bachman and another band member went to pull off to confront one of the drivers, it turned out that the truck driver was bigger than both guys combined and the elements of the song came out of that experience. Bachman went on to share with the audience that the song Shakin All Over was the first song written by the Guess Who. Randy also used a drumstick to finger pick during the classic American Woman. I thought it was a great show all around minus the 3-song acoustic performances of the Guess Who songs These Eyes, Laughing, and Undone. It seemed this slowed the pace of the evening and, in my opinion, either could have been done electrically or not at all. However, it could not have been more fitting to close the season with the Bachman Turner Overdrive gem Taking Care of Business. The crowd went nuts during this classic and the band seemed to have fun performing it as well.
All in all,a great night of music ended 2009s stellar lineup. We hope that the season will be even bigger and better in 2010 and we are already looking forward to covering that as well!
