Fran Cosmo @ Lafeyette Blues Room, Buffalo, NY 12-5-09

Fran Cosmo and his band played an intimate show at the Lafayette Blues Room in Buffalo this past Saturday night. Fran, Boston’s former vocalist from 1993-2006, stuck mostly to the hits for the evening’s performance. Fran was accompanied by his son Anton Cosmo on guitar, Bernie Gazio on bass, rusty Foulke guitar & keyboards, Tom Monnan on drums, and Mick brooks on rhythm guitar. Even though the band sounded great, the venue may have not been the best to hone in on what the band had to offer. This band was extremely tight but due the configurations of the building, their talents couldnt be fully appreciated (sound wise.) Fran can still hit the high notes but it certainly helped to have the background vocals of keyboardist Rusty Foulke to help give that extra boost when needed (ex. More Than a Feeling.) Anton displayed his guitar prowess throughout the show and blended in perfectly with Rusty, Mick, and Fran as well.
During the encore, Fran brought out 1984s So You Ran off of The Hunter from his solo project Orion. Another surprise was Turn it Off off of Bostons Corporate America, which was released in 2002. The only Boston CD that Fran did without the help of former vocalist Brad Delp was 1994s Walk On. The title track of that CD was performed here as well. All in all, a great night of classic rock was enjoyed by the people who were in attendance to see one of the more underrated American rock acts of all time.
