Peter Steele, vocalist of Type O Negative, dies at age 48

  According to latest sources Peter Steele, the towering front man of ‘Type O Negative,’ died last evening from heart failure. He was just 48.

  The New York based band known as ‘Type O Negative’ was started in early 1980’s as a heavy metal band from Brooklyn. The band was commonly viewed as a gothic metal band but just to grab more attention and to take off the label of ‘gothic’, the band has also incorporated elements of doom metal. Type O Negative was best known for its dramatic lyrical accent on themes of depression, romance and death from which they has earned a new nickname “The Drab Four”. The band enjoyed huge success with 1993’s Bloody Kisses and gained an enormous fan following with seven studio albums and concert DVDs. The last album they produced is 2007’s ‘Dead Again’.

  Peter Steele, known as the towering musician and the front man for the band, appeared on the cover page of Playgirl, a popular magazine and posed completely naked for the magazine during Type O Negative’s time in the limelight. He was famous for suffering from depression and some issues with body cruelty.

 Last night just before midnight, TV VJ Mistress Juliy’s posting to her Twitter account confirmed that Peter Steele, the 48 years old musician had passed away. She twitted “he passed of heart failure today. Just spoke to Kenny”, but prior this actually happened, late on Wednesday night, several rumors of his death had been raised on the internet.
