Joe Satriani @ House of Blues, Cleveland, OH 12-17-10

Guitar God Joe Satriani who is on tour in support of his latest solo effort Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards brought his unique style of guitar wizardry to the House of Blues this past Friday night. Accompanying Joe in his touring band were Jeff Campitelli on drums, Allen Whitman on Bass, Mike Keneally on keys, and Galen Henson on rhythm guitar.
Joe came out wearing mirrored sunglasses and blasted into Ice 9 off of his 1988 classic Surfing with the Alien. Joe was all smiles and was locked and loaded right from the beginning. Joe, who probably is Ibanezs most well known endorser, switched up his guitars during the entire night, playing various colors of the Japanese product.
Having enjoyed recent success with super group Chickenfoot, Satch revisited his bread and butter by releasing another classic and masterful solo album this past fall. This show was a showcase of that new album as 7 tracks were played from it. Joe occasionally took the mic in between tracks to monitor crowd reaction and mood. Every time it was a favorable response. He also let his band mates have a little time in the limelight as Mike opened the track Crystal Planet and rhythm guitar player Galen Henson donned an acoustic as he soared into Flying into a Blue Dream.
During the track Satch Boogie, the video of this song was shown in the background on a massive video screen. The show was an entire night of instrumental music except when Joe took the lead vocals on the track Big Bad Moon. He also dabbled in some harmonica during that song as well.
A packed crowd witnessed another stellar performance by one of the most accomplished guitar players ever. Go check out Satch when he comes to your town.
