Canadian songstress, Sass Jordan, turned in a vivacious performance inside the Seneca Casino Saturday night. Jordan’s effervescence filled the intimate venue with an infectious energy that started with the opening notes of “Damaged” right through to the show’s closer “So Hard (to Say Goodbye).” Albeit a short set, Jordan took plenty of opportunities to profess her love to her audience, and thanked all in attendance for “making the effort to come out to see live music.”

While making multiple claims that “60” is the new “40,” Sass didn’t seem to be showing a shred of evidence that she is aging or slowing down, even a little. She was constantly in motion, dancing and waving her arms high above her head in time with the music. Her body of work covers a wide range of styles; from hard rock and blues, to an occasional contrasting taste of country and soul, but what ties it all together is her incredible vocal ability. That signature bluesy rasp is the focal point of every song. From rocker to ballad, Jordan’s voice emits the emotion behind the powerful and moving lyrics of her songs.

A new twist on “I Want to Believe,” came courtesy of guitarist/husband Derek Sharp and guitarist Chris Caddell, who alternated the beginning verses of the tune between them, to be later joined at the chorus by Jordan. The song was brought to a climax with Caddell’s blues laden solo, which dazzled the crowd. Other favorites of the evening included, “You Don’t Have to Remind Me,” and “High Road Easy.” The end of the performance was deservingly met with a standing ovation.

Post show, Sass and her band celebrated the stellar performance by enjoying a beverage and mingling with a few fans in the casino’s lobby bar; proving herself an accessible rock star, that takes a genuine interest in her legion of “believers.”

Look for our exclusive interview with her right here, on BackstageAxxess coming soon.
