Lilian Axe ‘XI: The Days Before Tomorrow’

Lilian Axe ‘XI: The Days Before Tomorrow’

February 14, 2012 by Kris Engelhart

Lillian Axe is set to release their latest CD, “XI:The Days Before Tomorrow,” later this month, their first with new lead vocalist Brian Jones. Let me tell you that this CD blew me away. “Days” is a true showcase for the songwriting ability of lead guitarist, Steve Blaze. Steve’s true passion for the music shines through with songs that combine both edgy melodies and deep, meaningful lyrics. He is a master at his craft and is able to tackle difficult subjects with ease.

From the opening strains of the first track, “Babylon,” I was hooked. This record rocks hard and has some great in your face metal tunes like “Caged In” and “Take the Bullet.” New vocalist Brian Jones has some awesome pipes and seems to be a great fit for the band. His unique style soars, especially on the choruses of “Death Comes Tomorrow” and “The Great Divide.” The band sounds fantastic with blistering guitar work and rock steady bass and drums. Musically, I would put them up against the best of the best in the business. The ballad, “Bow Your Head,” is remarkable and my favorite track on the CD.

“XI:The Days Before Tomorrow,” is a musical masterpiece and is sure to be a hit with Lillian Axe fans old and new. If you haven’t had the chance to check out Lillian Axe before, you owe it to yourself to give this CD a listen. They are truly something that should not be missed.
