The Devil Wears Prada @ Town Ballroom, Buffalo, New York 3-31-12

With the force of a thousand freight trains, The Devil Wears Prada slammed into The Town Ballroom in Buffalo, NY this past Saturday night. In front of a sold out crowd of feverish fans chanting “Dev-il, Dev-il” they stormed the stage ripping into their opening song “Dead Throne.” It was an onslaught of nonstop energy that didn’t let up for their entire set.

With some encouragement from lead singer Mike Hranica, the crowd surfing began. As the bodies poured over the barricade, it began inching towards the stage, turning the pit into nothing more than a walkway. The endless conveyor of surfers churned throughout the night, sending fans running to the back of the house to jump on and take another ride up to the pit.

As TDWP tore through their set the crowd pounded their fists in the air, shouting the lyrics to every song. When the band took the only break in their set to address crowd, Hranica reminded everyone that TDWP is a Christian metalcore band stating “We play in the name of Jesus Christ.” It seemed a stark contrast to the image they portray on stage. He then thanked everyone for coming out and asked they help them with their last 3 songs of the night. Finishing with “Danger: Wildman” the show ended without a dry t-shirt in the house.

Having never been to a TDWP show, I wasn’t sure what to expect. From the first note to the last, these guys pour it on heavy. The chest pounding, fast-paced music, combined with the feverish energy of the packed house, makes this a show you don’t want to miss when they come to town on The Rockstar Mayhem Festival Tour.
