New country sensation, Glorianna, made their way through the Western New York area with a stop in Niagara Falls at the Rapids Theater last Friday night. Now performing as a trio, the band currently has a single that is climbing the country charts with “(Kissed You) Goodnight.” The band took the stage and did the intro to Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion” before performing the 2nd track off of their self-titled, debut album called “Wild at Heart.” Most of the songs are co-leads with Rachel Reinert and Tom Gossin. Reinert did take full leads on “You Said,” and “Turn my World Around.” Reinert has a fantastic voice and range and commands the stage when she is taking the leads. Lead guitarist Mike Gossin kept switching guitars all night, but his playing was steady and dictated the bands flow the entire set.
This band is heavily influenced by the rock genre and their show and set list prove that fact, as songs by John Mellencamp and Joe Walsh were played. Snippets of Marshall Tucker and Bruce Springsteen were also intertwined at the ends of “Carolina Rose” and “Small Town” respectively.
As most girls in the front were screaming at Tom Gossin because of his good looks, hopefully they didn’t miss how engaging and talented he was, not only with the acoustic guitar, but on the piano on “Turn my World Around;” a highlight of the evenings set list for sure. Reinert also interacted with a fan by singing part of (Kissed You) Goodnight to a fan in the front row.
Tom Gossin told the story of how they all met at a singer/songwriters kind of night. Back when MySpace was the thing to do, they messaged Rachel and then they all ended up moving in together in Reinert’s one bedroom apartment.
Even though the band continues to get used to being a 3-piece, you would never notice it here. The harmonies were fluid and the chemistry between Reinert and the Gossin Brothers were spot on. It’s just matter of time before you start seeing this band hit the big time!
