Las Vegas rockers, Otherwise, have been faithfully working the local scene for years and have recently garnered some much deserved attention with their latest release, “True Love Never Dies.” Otherwise consists of lead vocalist Adrian Patrick and his brother Ryan on lead guitar along with Flavio Ivan on bass, Corky Gainsford on drums, and Vassilios Metropoulous on guitar. They are a talented group of musicians and the band has a real powerhouse sound.
Working with producer Jay Baumgardner (Papa Roach, Incubus, Bush), this new record just flat out rocks. It has all the ingredients for a huge commercial success-slick production, huge choruses, and searing guitars. But what sets this record apart from others is pure passion. From the opening strains of “Die For You,” there is an instant emotional connection to Otherwise and their music. Heavier tracks like “Lighthouse” and “Scream Now” showcase not only blistering guitars but the powerful and rock steady rhythm section. Adrian’s vocals are very heartfelt as he sings of love, loss, and pain with lyrics like “Take my heart, just rip it out” and “Scream with me now, bleed with me now.” The band also does a good job showing their softer side slowing it down for “I Don’t Apologize (1000 Pictures),” which has the potential to be a huge crossover hit, and the acoustic, ballad “Heaven” which features a vocal by Ashley Costello. The stand out track on the record is the first single, “Soldiers,” which is a fantastic, power anthem. “Soldiers” starts out slow with the intensity building and building until the climactic chorus. This one will be amazing to see live and have audiences screaming with fists in the air.
“True Love Never Dies” is a great record and one not to be missed. With songs like these, Otherwise is going to be a force to be reckoned with on the rock scene for a very long time.
