Slash ‘Apocalyptic Love’

“Apocalyptic Love,” the second solo effort from guitarist extraordinaire, Slash, will be released on May 22nd. Slash has always been a technical wizard on the guitar. From shredding with Gun N’ Roses in his early years to this recent solo record, Slash has proven to be a master of his craft with blazing fretwork and a distinctive sound like no other.

For this new record, Slash has enlisted the help of Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. Unlike his first solo record which featured a slew of different guest artists, “Apocalyptic Love” has a real cohesive feel to it with Kennedy handling all of the vocal duties. I have always appreciated the talent of Myles and I think he and Slash have a great chemistry together which can be heard on the first single, “You’re A Lie.”

Of course, the best part of the CD is Slash and his guitar. This has to be Slash’s best work since the early days of G N’ R. He lets it rip on hard rocking tracks like “Hard & Fast,” “Standing in the Sun,” and does a blazing solo on the title track, “Apocalyptic Love.” The softer side of Slash is featured on the beautiful ballad “Far and Away” and the classical guitar intro on “Anastasia.”

There is no doubt about it, Slash has mad skills. Metal, blues, classical, he can do it all. On “Apocalyptic Love,” he is able to bring it all together with terrific songs, a great band, and masterful guitar work cementing his place in history as one of the greatest of all time.
