The money man shook Lockport, NY this past Friday evening with his brand of pop/classic rock. Opening up with “Baby Hold On,” off of his 1977 self-titled debut album, the party was on from there. Eddie, looking and sounding better than he has in recent years, was all smiles and interacted with the crowd throughout his 1 hour and 10 minute set. Eddie continues to have the same backing band with Tommy Girvin on lead guitar, Glenn Symmonds on drums, Lee Beverly on bass and Chris Grove on keyboards. This is a tight unit and with Eddie in great form, this was one of the stronger sets he has performed in years. The bands perfect blend of harmonies was evident on “No Control.” Eddie took a break to stress how important it is to support the troops and went into “One More Soldier Coming Home.” All proceeds for this 2011 song are going to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
Besides a vocalist, Eddie is known as a superb saxophonist and he showcased his chops on the tune “Trinidad.” Money’s daughter Jesse, who toured with him for a short time, is now off doing her own thing as solo artist, so he handled all the vocals on “Take Me Home Tonight.” He also did a little solo before his hit song “I Wanna Go Back.” Besides some monitor issues with Symmonds, the show went off without a hitch.
Labatt Concert Series organizers have recently made many changes to the layout and structure of the concert grounds, thus affecting how the attendees view the show. Some modifications were made between the 1st and 2nd weeks with a possibility of more coming soon, due to the feedback that has been given to the powers that be. It will be interesting to see what happens in the following weeks.
