Megaforce records is about to release “Better Days,” the first full length album from hard rockers Another Lost Year. No stranger to the Carolina music scene, Another Lost Year was voted 2011’s best rock band of the Carolinas and has opened for the likes of Pop Evil, 10 Years, and 30 Seconds to Mars.
From the opening track, “Better Days,” I felt a sense of familiarity with the material that grew stronger the more I listened to it. I immediately felt at home, almost as if I had always listened to them. The record is full of catchy melodies with just the right amount of blistering riffs. Producer Justin Rimer (12 Stones) has showcased the powerful vocals of Clinton Cunanan, which pull you into each and every song. Some of my favorites are the first single, “War On The Inside,” “Runaway,” and “Writing On The Wall.”
Another Lost Year writes lyrics that just about anyone can relate to. Who hasn’t had problems and hoped for better days? How many of us have wondered if “this life could be so much more?” These down to earth lyrics combined with the emotional vocals of Cunanan are what set this group apart from the rest of the pack.
“Better Days” by Another Lost Year deserves some attention and has earned a spot on my playlist. This is a terrific new record full of top notch songs. My prediction for them is nothing but better days ahead!
