The bad boys of Baltimore, Charm City Devils, have just released the deluxe version of their second full length album, “SINS.” This record should come with a warning label: Listening to this album may cause uncontrollable fist pumping and dangerous levels of headbanging. Prepare yourself for forty-five minutes of non-stop rock and roll action.
Not only is “SINS” a great title, because let’s face it, who among us hasn’t committed at least a few? It is a great hard rock record. Working with producer Skidd Mills, CCD has crafted their own classic blues-based sound that will stand the test of time. “SINS” is heavier and edgier than their first album and lyrically darker. Drawing from their own life experiences, CCD has written songs that anybody can relate to, touching on themes of anger, revenge, and the highs and lows of life.
The music packs just as much of a punch as the lyrics. CCD has never sounded more energetic or passionate as they kick things off in high gear with the fast-paced fury of “Spite” and “Unstoppable,” which is featured as the WWE’s “No Way Out” theme song. Also included on the album is a cover of the folk tune “Man of Constant Sorrow.” I’m not usually a big fan of cover songs but CCD’s version of “Man” is one of the best covers I have ever heard. It’s completely different from the original and you will find yourself singing along in no time. “SINS” closes with two slower but immensely powerful ballads, “All You’ll Ever Need” and “Doorstep” which will have fans pulling out their cellphones and rocking from side to side.
Charm City Devils have raised the bar with this one. Go out and get your copy of “SINS” today. This is one record you won’t want to miss.
