Pennsylvania natives, Cinderella shook up the rock music scene in 1986, and reached triple platinum success with their debut album, “Night Songs.” Well over 1,200 fans stepped aboard a time machine this past Sunday night to revisit the era of sparkly scarves, fringe leather jackets, and high hair as Cinderella rocked the house at Braun’s Concert Cove near Buffalo, NY.

“Once Around the Ride,” served as the opener and what a ride it was! Although it took a few songs for the sound board and Tom Keifer’s voice to synch up, once they did, the boys unleashed an avalanche of Cinderella’s blues-based rock classics such as “Somebody Save Me,” “Nobody’s Fool,” “Shelter Me,” and “Don’t Know What You Got, Til it’s Gone.”

Guitarist Jeff LeBar and bassist Eric Brittingham took turns effortlessly swinging their axes over their shoulders, the signature 360 move that was accentuated in every MTV video they made back in the day.

It’s no secret that front man Tom Kiefer has struggled with a paralyzed vocal chord since the late 90’s, and at times you could hear the impact that it has had on his performance. However, he has worked very hard to condition his pipes through rigorous daily therapy and has found a way to overcome this unfortunate impairment. Kiefer’s talents reach beyond just singer/songwriter. His skills on the piano, saxophone and guitar are often overlooked, but all present were quickly reminded of his proficiencies especially on “Heartbreak Station,” where his guitar solo on the lap slide left fans awestruck.

As the band forged through their catalog of hard rock hits, the audience delighted in singing along to the nostalgic nuggets of the past and everyone who made the trek out to the quiet suburb of Alden, NY left with their appetites for a rocking good time completely satisfied.
