The Who Live in Texas 75 ‘Live in Texas 75”

“The Who: Live in Texas ’75” captures the band in a way no other DVD has in their storied career. Unlike the polished performances already on DVD, “Live in Texas” is a now commercially released bootleg recording of the band on their “Who by Numbers” tour.

Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of low fidelity bootlegs, but “Live in Texas” that makes it a real pleasure to watch. Maybe it was because the band was performing for the audience and not the camera, and thus you get the feeling you are at an actual Who concert complete with tuning between songs and interesting stage banter.

For longtime fans of the band, it will be an essential addition to their collection. For casual fans of the band be forewarned that this isn’t a high resolution shoot, there are only two cameras and the editing of the performance is rudimentary.

That being said, the music is great, and getting to see Keith Moon looking relatively sober, is well worth the cost of the DVD.
