Club Infinity in Williamsville, NY is long known for its country themed nights. Well this past Thursday night, it got its full on taste as current Staind front man Aaron Lewis played to a sold out crowd. With the release of his latest solo endeavor “The Road,” Aaron Lewis is enjoying his time away from his main band to bring his version of country to his fans.
Opening the show with a rousing rendition of “75,” (which speaks to his life on the road) Lewis continued to wow the packed house from there on. Screams of “We Love You Aaron” were heard throughout the song and into “The Story Never Ends,” (which speaks to the other side of life on the road – returning home.)
Lewis performed for a little over 2 hours covering 17 of his songs including selected titles from his 2011 solo debut “Town Line”, the title track from his latest release “The Road”, “Grandaddy’s Gun,” and “Keeping Up With The Joensin'” to name a few. Lewis sounded exactly as if you were listening to the tracks on CD. He played with precision and passion, singing from his country roots and for what he believes in as he belted out “Red White and Blue.” The song is about honest and hard working American people. The words to the song really spoke to them as they returned with favor with a rousing ovation after the song was completed.
After finishing the regular set with “It’s Been Awhile” from his Staind days, he left the stage to the crowd chanting “Aaron,” “Aaron,” “Aaron!” His return brought a 3 song encore set of “Lessons Learned”, “Outside” and from what seemed to be the most honest look into his upbringing when he performed the heartfelt “Country Boy.”
Seldom do we see such raw honesty in an artist that speaks from his own life and what he’s been through to lead him where he is today. Come to think of it isn’t that where the great musicians find their inspiration…out there…on “The Road?”
