“Randy Rhoads: The Quiet Riot Years” is an intimate portrait of Randy as more than just a virtuoso guitarist who passed away before his time. He was a serious musician, a loyal friend, a prankster, a superstar who appreciated his success but never developed a rockstar ego.

The story of how Randy Rhoads and Keven DuBrow met, and their journey together in Quiet Riot, is told through never-before-seen personal photographs, home movies, unreleased recordings, news reports, and interviews by the people in his inner circle.

Kevin DuBrow, Rudy Sarzo, and Drew Forsyth of Quiet Riot, Kevin’s mother Laura, photographer Ron Sobol, fan club president Lori Hollen, Randy’s girlfriend Jodi Vigier, and Ozzy Osbourne are among those who share their memories and anecdotes in the film.

Although the movie is called “The Quiet Riot Years,” it continues Randy’s story after he left Quiet Riot to join Ozzy Osbourne’s band, and his untimely passing in 1982 at the age of 25.

The crowd at the Skirball Center applauded and cheered throughout the movie, and some of them sobbed softly during the footage of the plane crash that took Randy’s life. It was evident that their love and respect for him has only deepened over time.

At the end of the film, Ozzy shared what Randy meant to him and to so many others: “Randy Rhoads will never die in my heart. Every now and again, you look up in the sky and see a shooting star. The sky is full of stars. Randy Rhoads is one of those shooting stars.”

In a question and answer session after the movie, the film’s producers, joined by Lori Hollen and Jodi Vigier, answered questions and elaborated on how the movie was made. They explained that it started out as a book of Ron Sobol’s photographs. They had collected so much material along the way that they decided to expand the project into a film.

Regarding plans to distribute the movie to a wider audience, producer Andrew Klein said, “It’s either going to end up in film festivals, on television, or as a theatrical release. We don’t know. We are entertaining all options.”

For the time being, the DVD is available with the purchase of the book at www.redmatchproductions.com.
