If you like balls to the wall in your face rock and roll, then you definitely need to check out the latest album from the Aussie hardrockers of Airbourne. Their third album, “Black Dog Barking,” will have your fist pumping from start to finish.
The band consists of lead vocalist and lead guitarist Joel O’Keeffe, his brother Ryan on drums, guitarist David Roads, and Justin Street on bass. They have a very AC/DC like vibe and play completely high octane, contagious hard rock with catchy riffs, shout out choruses, and killer guitar solos. Their songs have been featured in numerous video games and WWE events and the first single , “Live It Up(Full Throttle Edition)” will be the featured song for the world’s tallest, fastest looping roller coaster in the world at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Produced by Brian Howes (Hinder, Puddle of Mudd), the record sounds slick and the band sounds tight. You won’t find any ballads on this record as Airbourne is all about keeping the energy level amped up. What you will find are classic arena rock songs like the anthemic “Ready To Rock,” the blistering “Firepower,” and the sexy rocker “Woman Like That.”
I hope “Black Dog Barking” garners Airbourne the attention they deserve. It’s a fantastic record and a terrific example of everything rock and roll should be.
