Jorn ‘Traveller’

Every time I hear a new record by Norwegian Metal God Jorn Lande I am literally blown away. His legendary career and resume speak for themselves and his eighth studio album under the band name Jorn, “Traveller,” is certainly no exception. Some new life has been brought to the band with the addition of Wig Wam guitarist Trond Holter and bassist Bernt Jansen. “Traveller” marks the first songwriting collaboration of Lande and Holter and they have proven to be quite the team.

The record kicks off with the opening track “Overload” and I am instantly reminded of 80’s era Dio which doesn’t surprise me since Dio is one of Jorn’s biggest influences. With a blistering guitar solo and blasting keys, “Overload” is a powerhouse of a song, a true rock and roll anthem. The trend keeps going with “Cancer Demon” and “Make Your Engine Scream.” “Traveller” is an instant classic, just a great metal song with a catchy melody and epic guitars. Things get a little darker and more somber on “Carry The Black” and the record closes out with a heroic tribute to Ronnie James Dio in “The Man Who Was King.”

The band sounds better than ever with Holter and Iverson’s blistering guitars and the distinctive, soaring vocals of Jorn Lande. “Traveller” is the complete package. It’s everything a metal fan could want, gargantuan vocals, killer guitars, a rock solid rhythm section, and outstanding songwriting that will stand the test of time. This is one you won’t want to miss!
