Corey Taylor ‘A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven’

Corey Taylor is not your ordinary rock and roll frontman. He is a man of many hats including being the lead singer for not one but two successful rock bands in Slipknot and Stone Sour, father, husband, and accomplished author. It goes without saying that his second book would not be an ordinary tale of the rock and roll lifestyle. In fact, “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven,” isn’t about his musical career at all, but something of a much more personal nature.

The book is a collection of stories or remembrances of supernatural events that Corey experienced throughout his life. Now, whether you believe in ghosts or not, the anecdotes are interesting and often amusing as Taylor questions the how and the why and most importantly, the why him. Taylor’s various homes, a nightclub in Niagara Falls, NY, and various other venues serve as the background for these ghostly encounters. Taylor sidetracks a bit as he speaks of religion or lack thereof and explains how it is possible to be an atheist and not believe in God but to completely believe in the human spirits that have passed.

Much to my surprise “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven” is very well-written and thought out. Taylor has a way of engaging the reader, making it fun and easy to read. He also encouraged you to think and challenge your own beliefs which is what a great book really should do. I have no idea what Taylor has in store for his next book but I can’t wait to read it. I’m sure it will be one heck of a ride!
