Falling in Reverse ‘Fashionably Late’

Fans of post-hardcore music will be familiar with ex-Escape the Fate vocalist Ronnie Radke and the legal issues that caused his departure from the band back in 2010. Ronnie is fronting a new band now, Falling In Reverse, and has just released their second studio album, “Fashionably Late.”

The new record is in a word, chaotic, mixing different styles and genres oftentimes within the same song. The opening track, “Champion,” starts off hard hitting with dirty vocals before heading off into breakdowns and rapping. The next song, “Bad Girls Club, ” is an off the wall bubblegum pop song and seems quite out of place. A few other surprises include the keyboard driven “Keep Holding On” and the album closer, “Drifter,” which has a real jammy, country feel to it.

The production on the record is slick and the band sounds tight with Jacky Vincent and Derek Jones tearing it up on the guitars and drummer Ryan Seaman and bassist Ron Ficarro holding the rhythm section together nicely.

“Fashionably Late” is really all over the place, giving you everything but the kitchen sink. Despite the turmoil, I have to say I liked this record. In fact, I really liked this record. There’s something to be said about the combination of blistering guitars, infectious hooks, and pop choruses and Falling In Reverse certainly does that very well.
