A band you should know by now, but may not, is a group out of Los Angeles, CA called Vintage Trouble. They were one of the performers on this year’s KISS Kruise. I was lucky enough to see them open up for The Who earlier this year, but the attendees on the Kruise didn’t know what they had in store for them.
It’s really hard to assign a genre to which Vintage Trouble could be classified under. Blues-rock, soul, funk, rock and roll, pop, hard rock, are all represented here. After seeing them perform, all I can say that is that they bring back that old school rhythm and blues style, reminiscent of the 1950’s, complete with suits and style performed with passion and feel to their live sets.
Led by the charismatic and energetic Ty Taylor, you couldn’t find a more electric front man who can combine all the aforementioned elements and make the entire thing go. He also went into the crowd for good measure. I should not dare to leave out his band mates as guitarist Nalle Colt, bassist Rick Barrio Dill and drummer Richard Danielson as they provide the ingredients and substance for what is the foundation of Vintage Trouble.
Colt really showed what he can do on the song “Run Otta You” as he delivered a memorable, elongated solo during the song. Danielson and Dill were the force behind all of the songs, but especially on “Run Like the River.” This is a song that Taylor gets the crowd involved in and a fun song to get hot and sweaty too. In fact, you can almost describe the entire Vintage Trouble set as such. “Pelvis Pusher” also follows this suit and really gets the women going, and what a song to groove too! We do a lot of reviews and promote a lot of acts but I must say, you WILL NOT be disappointed when you see these guys live!
