Cher ‘Closer to the Truth’

There are certain performers who possess a certain unnamed quality that sets them apart from all the others. One such artist has to be Cher. From variety television star in the “ Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour” to Oscar winning actress in “Moonstruck” to the Grammy award winning song “Believe,” Cher has done it all. Whether she is off entertaining the troops or sharing outrageous fashions, Cher is a true icon in American entertainment. Her latest offering is her 26th studio album, “Closer To The Truth.”

The record opens with the upbeat “Woman’s World.” It’s a perfect song for the dance clubs and with one listen you can’t help tapping your toes and wanting to get up and groove. There are several other dance pop numbers which are fun and easy to listen to especially “Take It Like A Man.” Cher of course has included several surprises for us as well, including a very well done cover of Miley Cyrus’s “I Hope You Find It” and the beautiful vulnerability of her vocals in “Lie To Me.” Closing things out is the country dance feel of “I Walk Alone” complete with banjos and a guest appearance by Pink.

“Closer To The Truth” is a solid release from this legendary artist. Love her or hate her. It doesn’t really matter. Cher is larger than life and commands attention. Give this new record a listen. She just might make you “Believe” all over again.
