Don’t let the name Pretty Maids fool you because these Danish hard rockers can really pack a punch. Their latest release “Louder Than Ever” comes in between studio albums and contains both re-recorded classics from 1995-2006 as well as brand new material. Led by vocalist Ronnie Atkins and guitarist Ken Hammer, Pretty Maids give us a great album of hard rock with just enough melody.
The record kicks off with a driving new track “Deranged” and continues with the hard hitting riffs and shredding guitars of “Playing God” and “Psycho Time Bomb.” Atkins’ vocals are strong throughout, most notably on the new ballad “My Soul To Take.” The rhythm section of Rene Shades on bass and Allan Tchicaja on drums keeps things tight with Morten Sandager behind the keys tying things together.
“Louder Than Ever” is a great introduction for those who are new to the music of Pretty Maids. For long term fans, there are enough new tracks to whet their appetite until the next studio album drops.
