It seems that just about every rock star has a book out now. With so many choices and limited time, it can be tough to decide which one is worthy of the effort. “For Facts Sake” by legendary bassist Bob Daisley is a captivating story of his life in and out of rock and roll and should be moved to the top of your reading list.
First of all, the book is written entirely by Bob and only by Bob with no co-authors or ghostwriters involved. His approach is direct and the entire feel of the book is very down to earth. You can’t help but like Bob and cheer him on as his story unfolds. From his childhood to the present day, his accounts are fascinating as he makes a name for himself not only as a superior bass player but as an extraordinary songwriter and brilliant lyricist. Bob’s travels through rock have led him to work with the very best of the best with the likes of Ozzy, Rainbow, Uriah Heep, and Gary Moore just to name a few. Readers will be engrossed as Bob tells of writing sessions with the late, great Randy Rhoads and the numerous tours with Ozzy. Later, his legal battles with Don Arden and then the Osbournes show us a bit of the cutthroat nature of the music business as he attempts to get the credit he very much deserves. There are also touching moments as Bob recalls the biggest moments in his life including friendships and love, babies born, and loved ones lost. We not only get to know Bob Daisley the rock star but Bob Daisley the man, who despite the obstacles thrown in his way remained true to his passion for the music and somehow was able to remain a nice guy through it all.
The bibliophile in me insists that I give a shout out to the book itself. It is a superbly done larger softcover with glossy pages and absolutely tons of incredible photographs making it a true collector’s item. If you’d like to know more about one of the most talented guys in rock and roll, make a spot on your shelf “For Facts Sake” today.
