Cannibal Corpse ‘A Skeletal Domain’

There is no band that represents the genre of death metal better than Cannibal Corpse. These iconic American metalheads are well into their third decade of bringing death metal to the masses and are about to release their 13th full length album on Metal Blade records, “A Skeletal Domain.”

In order to keep things fresh and from getting too comfortable, the band has teamed with a different producer, Mark Lewis (DevilDriver, The Black Dahlia Murder), for the new record which was recorded at the top notch Audio Hammer Studios. The result is a non-stop brutal attack on the senses. From the opening track “High Velocity Impact Spatter” to the album closer, “Hollowed Bodies,” the assault is barbaric and merciless. You won’t find any pseudo-ballads or orchestral arrangements here. What you will hear are the bombastic guitars of Pat O’Brien and Rob Barrett, the pounding bass of Alex Webster, and the thundering drums of Paul Mazurkiewicz along with the violent vocals of George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher. Combine that with the gory, horror filled lyrics and you have the makings of a hell of a death metal album. A standout track is “Kill or Become” with Corpsegrinder’s screams of “Fire up the Chainsaw!” Don’t miss the opening guitars of “Sadistic Embodiment” and the solo on “The Murderer’s Pact.”

There’s a lot of truth in the old saying “less is more” but certainly not in this case. With Cannibal Corpse, more is more; more vicious riffs, more inhuman screams, more brutality, more death metal at its absolute best.
