Saving Abel ‘Blood Stained Revolution ‘

With the departure of vocalist Jared Weeks, Saving Abel faced the daunting task of finding a new frontman to carry on their hard rock mission. On their own label, Tennessippi Whiskey Records, they have released “Blood Stained Revolution, ” their first album with new vocalist Scotty Austin and new drummer Steven Pulley. Driven by the guitars of Jason Null and Scott Bartlett, “Blood Stained Revolution” is blues infused hard rock with Saving Abel’s unmistakeable southern edge.

The record opens with the driving rocker “Ready To Burn” and it’s clear that Saving Abel is ready to rock. The title track and the catchy hook of “Love Like Suicide” showcase the blues rock riffs of Null and Bartlett and the steady rhythms of Eric Taylor on bass and Pulley behind the kit. Not to be outdone is Scotty Austin who fits right into the mix with his powerful, raw vocals. The slower tracks however proved to be the strongest with the soulful tug on your heartstrings feel of “Memphis” showing the range of Austin quite nicely. The exquisite piano and string ballad “Side Roads” closes out the album with emotional vocals from Austin and equally emotive violins.

“Blood Stained Revolution” is a rock solid release from these southern rockers. It’s good to see that even with the lineup changes Saving Abel hasn’t missed a beat.
