Motor Sister ‘Ride’

I think every rock and roll fan has dreamed at least once of performing with his or her favorite band. For Scott Ian of Anthrax that dream has become a reality. For his fiftieth birthday Scott got together with Jim Wilson, frontman and guitarist from the seventies classic rock band Mother Superior, and his friends drummer John Tempesta, bassist Joey Vera, and his wife Pearl. They rehearsed a set of Mother Superior songs handpicked by Scott and played for a small group of close friends. The chemistry between them was instantaneous and the idea of doing an album and making this a full fledged band came about.

Taking their name from the Mother Superior tune “Little Motor Sister,” Motor Sister was born. With the help of producer Jay Ruston, the album “Ride” was made in only two days and really captures the live feel and excitement of that first night. The record has 12 of Mother Superior’s best tunes featuring blues based rock with a little harder edge added to it. From the driving beat of the opening tune “A-Hole” to the grinding riffs of “Doghouse,” Motor Sister rocks hard. Don’t miss the slower blues feel of “Fool Around” with beautiful vocal harmonies from Pearl Aday and the closing track “Devil Wind” with an acoustic start before blasting into an epic rocker.

“Ride” is a great album and a real showcase for the talents of Jim Wilson. If you’re a fan of 70s’ rock, you won’t want to miss this one.
