Nothing More ‘Nothing More’

One of the bands that has been garnering a lot of attention lately has been the four piece alt rockers out of San Antonio, Nothing More. With their self-titled full length release for Eleven Seven Music, Nothing More is tearing its way up the rock charts and into the hearts of fans.

The music is complex and passionate with deep, introspective lyrics and outstanding musicianship. It is melodic and progressive but also heavy as hell. The album opens with the electronic “Ocean Floor” which serves as an intro to the hard driving first single, “This Is The Time (Ballast).” “Mr.MTV” begins with a snippet of “Money For Nothing” by Dire Straits and is a true statement on today’s society and the current obsession with all things Apple related. Frontman Jonny Hawkins is a truly versatile vocalist with an incredible range and the songs, although complex, have catchy choruses that allow his voice to soar. A not to be missed track is the prog rock instrumental “Surface Flames” where the guitar of Mark Vollelunga shines.

Nothing More has made a statement with unique combinations of sounds resulting in a record that is a beautiful cacophony of crashing drums, blistering guitars, and tremendous vocals.
