Various Artists ‘Immortal RANDY RHOADS-The Ultimate Tribute’

No one would argue that Randy Rhoads is one of the most revered and influential guitarists in the history of hard rock. At only 16 years of age, he formed a band that would soon become Quiet Riot and in 1979 he was catapulted into the spotlight when he joined Ozzy’s band Blizzard of Oz. Randy was a lover of classical music and blended hard rock and classical into a fusion of sound uniquely his own and went on to co-write two of the biggest hard rock albums ever in “Blizzard of Oz” and “Diary of a Madman.” “Immortal RANDY RHOADS-The Ultimate Tribute” is an all star packed celebration of Randy’s talent and contributions to the world of rock.

Produced by Bob Kulick, the record contains 11 songs co-written by Rhoads with a list of artists too long to mention including Serj Tankian, Tom Morello, Rudy Sarzo, Tim “Ripper” Owens, and Randy’s brother Kelle Rhoads. The record is extremely well done with such an array of talent lending their own touch to these classic songs. An amazing job was done by all involved in this unique project. Just a few of the highlights include a terrific version of “Mr. Crowley” with Chuck Billy on vocals and Kelle Rhoads on keyboards and an outstanding guitar performance by Doug Aldrich on “Believer.” One of my personal favorite Randy Rhoads songs is “Goodbye To Romance” and the version here with Gus G. on guitars and vocals by Tim “Ripper” Owens is not to be missed. I was happy to see a few Quiet Riot songs included on the album as well and Kelle Rhoads vocals seem to be a perfect fit for “Back To The Coast.”

In 1982, Randy was tragically taken from the world at too young an age and he will be forever missed by those who knew him and those who knew him through his music. “Immortal RANDY RHOADS-The Ultimate Tribute” is a fitting tribute to his legacy and proof that although he is gone, Randy’s music and talent will live on.
