Michael Des Barres is a man of many talents. An accomplished actor on both television and the big screen, a successful radio host, and long time rock and roller, Michael is back on the music scene with an all new solo album, “The Key To The Universe.”
For this record, Michael teams up with former Blondie and Silverhead bassist Nigel Harrison, drummer Clive Deamer and guitarist Dani Robinson to put together an album of clean and classic hard driving rock and roll. From the opening tune “I Can’t Get You Off My Mind” written by Linda Perry to the raw and edgy “I Want Love To Punch Me In The Face,” I was blown away at how heavy this album rocks. The theme of love and obsession is a recurrent theme and vocally Des Barres drives his point home. Whether it’s the bluesy feel of “Burning In Water, Drowing In Flames” or the more laid back stylings of “It’s Just A Dream,” Michael nails it. Robinson proves to be one hell of a guitar player and you won’t want to miss his grooving riff and jazzy vibe on”Supernatural Lovers.”
Many times we have rockers who want to act and actors who want to rock with very few being able to actually accomplish both. Michael Des Barres is one of those few. “The Key To The Universe” is a top notch rock and roll record and one you won’t want to miss.
