Stormwitch ‘Season of the Witch’

It’s been over ten years since German metal legends Stormwitch have graced us with new music. The band is back with their 10th album, “Season of the Witch,” via Massacre Records. Original vocalist Andy Muck and original bassist Jurgen Wanschi Wannenwetsch are back with the addition of guitarists Stoney Stoner and Volle Schmietow and drummer Micha Kasper.

From the very first listen, “Season of the Witch” takes you back in time with a solid classic ’80s metal vibe. In fact, the band reminds me a lot of Iron Maiden only a bit more melodic in their approach. The songs are strong with quality riffs, blistering guitars, pounding drums and bass and a strong vocal performance from Muck. Stand out tracks are the title track and “At the End of the World,” a true metal anthem. You won’t want to miss the requisite power ballad with “Runescape.”

Fans of Stormwitch will be pleased with this latest effort. If you’re a fan of early Maiden and Priest and the ’80s metal scene, you’ll want to give “Season of the Witch” a listen.
