Hollywood Undead ‘Day of the Dead’

American rap rockers Hollywood Undead have been causing quite the stir on the music scene ever since their 2008 debut album, “Swan Songs.” There seems to be little middle ground when it comes to the band as people tend to either love them or hate them. I, for one, say what’s not to love? This group of guys are fun and charismatic and at times angry and aggressive. They are back with their 4th studio album, “Day of the Dead,” a perfect blend of rock, rap, dance, metal, and pop all rolled into one.

The record kicks things off with some heavier rock tracks in “Usual Suspects” and “Day of the Dead,” both with catchy hooks and choruses. Dance oriented tracks “War Child” and “Party By Myself” have undeniable grooves, typical Hollywood Undead party songs. A surprise was the total pop vibe on “I’ll Be There.” It was definitely not something I expected to hear. A not to be missed track is the very Marilyn Mansonesque “Disease” with its driving beat and funky mix.

With “Day of the Dead,” Hollywood Undead capitalizes on what they do best. The record is full of energy and fun to listen to with beats and grooves that just can’t be denied.
