While everyone is gearing up for the summer tour season there is a cool spring tour that is currently underway that you should be aware of. Seether with Tremonti opening, is a hell of a double package and the fans in the WNY area got to experience it firsthand this past week at the Rapids Theatre.
Tremonti is about to release their 2nd studio effort titled “Cauterize” on June 7th. Led by the exceptional guitar stylings of one Mark Tremonti, the band delivered a very hard and guitar riff oriented set for almost 45 minutes. Playing songs off of both the new upcoming disc and the initial effort “All I Was.”
This is the first I ever witnessed Mark sing and I was actually impressed! He pulled it off with ease and seemed to be a natural behind the mic as if he has been doing it all along. I loved the new stuff like “Radical Change” and “Cauterize.” It’s very heavy guitar oriented rock. Great job Mark!
Headlining were South Africa’s darlings Seether. Still on the road on tour in support of their 2014 effort “Isolate and Medicate,” the band is sounding in tip top form. Led by one of the most consistent voices in rock in Shaun Morgan, the band had a good ass-kicking set that lasted about an hour and a10 minutes.
They even got into the Cinco de Mayo spirit by playing almost a full version of Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba.” John Humphrey delivered a very entertaining drum solo. Both Morgan and bassist Dale Stewart were left on stage by themselves to tackle one of the bands biggest hits in “Broken.” Stewart also had a guitar with him to accompany Morag on the track.
To give them more punch on guitar the band has also added former guitar tech Bryan Wickmann. He is now entrenched as a touring musician with the band and I believe it definitely adds a fuller sound.
Again, a great package and a must see before the bands go their separate ways very soon.
