Uli Jon Roth ‘Scorpions Revisited’

There are few musicians around who are truly deserving of the title virtuoso but guitar master Uli Jon Roth is definitely one of them. Most people know him due to his classically influenced blues guitar work in the early years of Scorpions but he is so much more than just that. Roth is also the inventor of the six octave sky guitar and composer of symphonies and orchestral works. His latest project via UDR Music is the 19 track double album “Scorpions Revisited.”

For this record, Uli shows us a new approach to some of his favorite classic Scorpions songs blending in new twists and turns along the way. For further inspiration, Roth recorded the album in Hanover, Germany, utilizing the same hall that the Scorpions used as rehearsal space in the seventies. Each song takes you on a journey of exploration as Roth puts a different spin on them, yet stays true in spirit to the originals. Of course, the guitar work is epic and enchanting with some stand out work on “In Trance,” “Polar Nights” and “Fly to the Rainbow.” Also included is the never before released on a studio album “All Night Long.” Roth brought an uber talented bevy of musicians along for the ride but a special shout out must be given to vocalist Nathan James who does a superb job throughout.

“Scorpions Revisited” is another welcome addition the the artistic achievements of Uli Jon Roth. The record is simply magical and should be on every guitar lovers must own list.
