Disarmonia Mundi ‘Cold Inferno’

Melodeath fans have been waiting six long years for new music from the Italian ensemble Disarmonia Mundi and the band has finally released their latest album, “Cold Inferno” on Coroner Records. Disarmonia Mundi is a unique entity as they are a studio only band and do not tour. The heart of the band is Ettore Rigotti who takes care of guitars, drums, bass, keyboards and clean vocals as well as composing, engineering, and production duties. Bandmate Claudio Ravinale is credited with screams and growls on this record and Soilwork vocalist Bjorn Strid makes a guest appearance.

From the opening track “Creation Dirge” it is clear that speed is key as the frenetic pace of the music continues throughout the record. In fact, this is probably the fastest, most pedal to the metal album that Rigotti has ever done. But there is much, much more to Disarmonia Mundi than a frontal speed assault. The songs are complex with brilliant choruses and interwoven melodies. The music is labyrinthine with layer upon layer of sounds that would be next to impossible to duplicate live. Don’t miss the extreme guitars on “Oddities From the Ravishing Chasm” and the full force and grandeur of “Magma Diver.”

With a sound that is both brutal and beautiful, “Cold Inferno” puts Disarmonia Mundi back on top of the melodic death metal scene. Fans of the genre will be elated as Rigotti proves yet again he is the master of melodeath.
