Slipknot, Lamb of God and Bullet for my Valentine @ Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, Darien, New York Wednesday, July 29, 2015

Summer’s Last Stand Tour featuring Slipknot with Lamb of God, Bullet for My Valentine and Motionless in White made it way through Darien Lake Amphitheatre last week. This will be our third time witnessing Slipknot over the last 3 plus months so our review won’t be that much different than of those in the past (minus a few songs rearranged in the set list: see below) so I will reference you to our Erie review here: Slipknot Erie Review.

The highlight of the evening was Lamb of God. The band just released their 7th studio effort titled “Sturm und Drang” and took the audience and kicked the sh*t out of them for about 50 minutes. Vocalist Randy Bythe works the crowd like few others in his genre. The 10-song set included 2 new tracks”512” and “Still Echoes.” They had video screens whose graphics set the mood for each song of their set. Blythe was constantly walking or running from side to side, occasionally jumping through the air while delivering his powerful vocals. William Adler and Mark Morton dished out some fast and tasty licks for LOG’s set.

Bullet for My Valentine will be getting ready to drop their 5th studio effort titled “Venom” on August 14. This is the first record with new bassist Jamie Mathias. The band was met with a mix of indifferent reactions. Not much emotion was generated by the audience for the band as they played through their 30 minute set. They also included a few new tracks “Army of Noise” and “No Way Out” that I thought represented what the Welsh band is about; hard riffs and hard vocals.

Unfortunately, we missed Motionless in White’s set due to our interview with Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe that was conducted during their performance.
