Five Finger Death Punch ‘Got Your Six’

“Is there peace beyond the rage?” This is one of the questions Five Finger Death Punch vocalist Ivan Moody ponders on their latest offering “Got Your Six” and after a few listens to the record the answer is a definite no. The new record is far from peaceful with eleven hard hitting metal tunes that will bruise and batter your soul.

The title track starts things off strong with a typical fist in the air Death Punch vibe followed by the first single “Jeckyll and Hyde.” The riffs are heavy duty and undeniably contagious with anthemic choruses and Moody’s signature guttural vocals. Working once again with producer Kevin Churko, the record has an explosive and energetic feel. There is some excellent guitar work courtesy of Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook, most notably the acoustic jam during the tempo change on “Question Everything” and the old school metal style solo on “Meet My Maker.” The latter is one of the strongest songs on the album with a vicious riff and underlying groove. The album closes out with Moody tipping his hat to old school punk with the f you track “Boots and Blood.”

“Got Your Six” is another victory for Five Finger Death Punch in their quest to conquer the metal world.
