Kat Perkins ‘Kat Perkins’

Many of you may be familiar with Kat Perkins from her appearances on the sixth season of “The Voice” television show. The American songstress is back with a brand new self-titled album of eight catchy tunes. The album is a mix of pop, rock, country and blues and really showcases the versatility of Kat’s vocals. Kicking things off in grand style is the country rock feel of “Drive” and “Take This Heart and Leave.” Where Perkins really shines is on the slower numbers. Her torrid vocals are both powerful and poignant on the stripped down “Main Street” and the ballad “When It’s Raining.” I thought the sultry groove of “The Hardest Part” was nicely done and made for a nice danceable track. The record closes out with Kat getting a little sassy on the country blues vibe of “Let’s Get on the Road.”

Kat has put together a rock solid debut record. With such a wide range of vocal ability, I expect we’ll be hearing a lot more of Kat Perkins as the years go by.
