Corey Taylor ‘You’re Making Me Hate You’

Let me issue a warning to potential readers, Corey Taylor is back and boy is he pissed off. The Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman turned author is back on the attack with his third book via Da Capo Press, “You’re Making Me Hate You.” Much like Alceste from Moliere’s “The Misanthrope,” Taylor is quick to criticize all the things he loathes about our modern society. A gifted writer and all around interesting guy, Corey sounds off in a series of humorous anecdotes about everything from airport conundrums to how we as parents are raising self-entitled little brats.

The book is easy to read with each chapter devoted to one of Taylor’s many pet peeves with a writing style that is brash and in your face. Through all his rages, he provides enough comic relief to have the reader both laughing and wholeheartedly agreeing with his tirades. Who hasn’t been in line behind the obnoxious person on a cellphone or shaken his/her head in disbelief at the ridiculousness that is reality tv? And for heaven’s sake America, use your turn signals!

Taylor is obviously not afraid to call it like he sees it but he’s also the first to admit that he is just as f*cked up as the rest of us and that gives us all the more reason to love him. For those of us who have suffered the idiocy that is everyday life, “You’re Making Me Hate You” is a must read.
