Adelitas Way 2-3-16

Gearing up for their 4th studio record to drop on February 26, 2016, entitled “Getaway,” the band Adelitas Way headlined a club show in Buffalo, NY this past  Wednesday night. “Getaway” was voted February’s release of the month by Loudwire. As you can see, there is a lot of anticipation for what the band has in store for us. The band consists of Rick Dejesus on vocals, Tre Stafford on drums, Robert Zakaryan on guitars and Andrew Cushing on bass.
Taking the stage at 9:30am, the band ripped through a 13- song setlist that offered a little bit of everything. Opening up with their hit “Sick,” Dejesus and his band set the mood for what was to come. Adelitas Way focused on their back catalog of songs and only played one new track, “Bad Reputation,” which Dejesus commented he wrote about himself. The song is currently getting a lot of airplay. Speaking of airplay, Dejesus does his homework when it comes to evaluating the local radio markets the band visits. Dejesus is a Las Vegas resident but keeps up with what is currently being played in other cities. In fact, he told the audience of his displeasure with the local radio playlists (especially on 103.3 The Edge). He was spot on and earned the audience’s respect. He also said he walked 2 miles around the city in the am and commented on the recent growth of the town. He engaged the crowd by signing one girl’s poster  in the middle of the set, and later he acknowledged a couple who messaged him earlier on social media and gave them a set list in the midst of their performance.
The rest of the band also enjoyed some playtime, where they got to spread their wings and solo a bit during “Hurt.”   Zakaryan was solid all night and should be recognized as the great guitar player he is and has become in Adelitas Way.
I’ve seen the band numerous times at festivals or opening up for other acts on various tours. This was the first time I’ve seen them headlining their own show. They proved they are more than capable of taking control and ending the night on their own terms. They qualify as a highly underrated rock band that you should make a point to see when they come to your town!
