Cavo “Bridges”

Cavo

After a four year break, Cavo has returned with an all new album, “Bridges.”  The record is an independent effort for the St. Louis rockers and without the outside  pressures from a label and management the band seems to have hit a new creative peak.

Overall, “Bridges” has a more pop rock feel to it than some of their earlier work like “Champagne” and really provides a platform for the vocals of frontman Casey Walker to shine.  From the energetic rock of “Nights” with its crisp guitars to the almost dance club groove of “Just Like We Want It,”  the record is full of interesting arrangements and experimental sounds.  Guitarist Chris Hobbs has come up with some contagious hooks and melodies especially the heavier riff of “Straight to the Bottom,” and the softer, laid back vibe  of the lead single “Stay.” The not to be missed track is the stripped down “On Your Own” with its bluesy guitar and soaring vocals.

Their new found musical freedom seems to agree with Cavo as they have delivered  a solid pop rock  album full of quality songs. For the first time, they’re making music on their own terms and the outcome is remarkable.
